Moxibustion

Moxibustion is a method that uses moxa punk (or other herbs) safely burned near the skin at acupuncture points. The heat warms the Qi and blood in the channels and is therefore useful in the treatment of disease and maintenance of health. Moxibustion can be used synergistically with acupuncture.

Gua Sha

In Gua Sha, the skin is pressured, in strokes, by a round-edged instrument. This process extravagates blood and metabolic waste congesting the surface tissues and muscles, promoting normal circulation and metabolic processes. By resolving fluid and blood stasis, Gua Sha is valuable in the treatment of pain, in the prevention and treatment of acute infectious illness, upper respiratory and digestive problems, and many acute or chronic disorders.

Cupping

Cupping is a method of treating disease by causing local congestion. A partial vacuum is created in jars, usually by means of heat, which are then applied to the skin, drawing up the underlying tissues and forming blood stasis. In ancient times, animal horns were used, principally in draining postulated sores. Later this method was utilized in treating consumptive and rheumatic diseases. Today, cups made of glass are the most common. Both the range of indications and the variety of instruments have grown since their inception.

Oriental Bodywork Therapy

This is a form of massage that focuses on the energy pathways of the body, and the gateways into them. It is based on the same theories that underlie acupuncture and herbal medicine. There are dozens of different forms of Oriental Bodywork, all sharing a similar foundation in theory and philosophy and differing mostly in technique. Most forms of this therapy include manipulation along the energy channels of the body, which affect the flow and balance of the Qi within the body/mind.

ElectroAcupuncture

This modality uses an elector stimulator similar in concept to a TENS machine that sends low frequency electrical impulses through electrodes placed at specific points on the body. The impulses can be sent continuously or intermittently, depending on the patient's condition. Although the patient feels only a tingling sensation, Electro Acupuncture has been shown to be an effective and safe method for the treatment of acute and chronic pain.
